Cowpunks metalheads can enjoy Hank III
Charleston Post Courier
Though he’s released six studio albums – a seventh is due out later this summer – he’s done so almost begrudgingly. His forthcoming release has been a long time coming after years of discontent between the artist and his label Curb Records. He released four cowpunk albums through Curb before the label rejected his death-metal effort. During the next few years Hank III recorded and performed with other metal bands – most notably as the bassist for Superjoint Ritual – before managing to release two more solo albums on smaller independent labels including last year’s “Damn Right Rebel Proud. Fortunately the standoff been Hank III and label president Mike Curb has come to a resolution and his death-metal project will be released by Curb Records which otherwise is known for its country styling. “Growing up the way I had to and some of the redneck bars I had to play in they just think it’s complete disrespect to their establishment and to them” he said. “You know I can’t make everyone happy and it is what it is.

MUSIC INTERVIEW: Judas Priest

Although I think our metal has always been a little bit more diverse and a bit more widespread. It's definitely fair to say Priest was there pretty much from day one in what we now know as the heavy metal world. Did the hoopla created by the Parents Music Resource Center actually help spread the metal word?Well I suppose it did didn't it? Whenever there's controversy about any issue it becomes under the spotlight. So I would imagine that was one of the spin-offs from that very silly politically motivated attack. Although I've always been a proponent of free speech First Amendment rights I love America I've spent most of my life in the States I understood the need for information in terms of what ended up being the stickers on CDs no different than going to the movies R-rated PG or whatever. But the rhetoric about it was mad. It was essentially contesting First Amendment rights.

Abrogation Reissue – A Top Story This Week

Digitally remastered using 24-Bit process. The band’s second offering “Das Blut der Toten” (”The Blood of the Dead”) saw the light of day in 2002. The album was a perfect blend of traditional heavy metal and a prime dose of crushing death metal – such highlights as “Tyrannei Der Engel” or “Engelmacherin” are brilliant examples of this combination. As for the lyrical background this time the German lyrics brought the listener right back into the dark ages telling tales of witch-hunting torture crime and deceit. The LP was highly acclaimed by the German music press as well as the world-wide metal community. Although Abrogation never received the proper attention they deserved the group remains one of the strongest names on the German melodic death metal scene. “Das Blut der Toten” is still one of the most original works released in Germany and is a must-have for fans of old-school metal heavy and catchy at the same time.

Teen bullying: Tormented boy’s short life ends in suicide

“He was a very gentle kind kid compassionate to a fault” his father said. But Iain’s embrace of heavy metal set him apart from classmates. He let his hair grow to shoulder-length and wore mostly black clothing including jeans with chains and T-shirts of heavy metal bands with dark sometimes morbid lyrics. For this his classmates at McClure Junior High School in Western Springs often called him “emo” — a slang term for angst-ridden followers of a style of punk music said Sikora 15. The bullying could also be physical Iain’s friends and parents said. In 8th grade at McClure one bully pushed Iain into a locker while he was on crutches and accused him of faking an injury to get out of gym class. But Iain rarely shied away from his tormentors his father said and in this case Iain punched the bully in the jaw.

Concert Review: Lighter Vans Warped Tour Wears Its Age (15) Well

I did get there in plenty of time to check out more than half of the two dozen bands (out of about 75) left on the schedule. That included Canada’s Alexisonfire whose three vocalists and guitar punch was a highlight (the pit that broke out during “Accidents” was pretty cool too). Almost as impressive was Dance Gavin Dance whose jerky episodic post-hardcore sound can veer from punk to metal to improv jazz all in one song (well they do have a guy named Matt Mingus on drums). They closed out the Smart Punk Stage which also hosted future hitmakers and recent Lady Gaga tour mates White Tie Affair. Their pop aspirations somehow fit in among the punks and the screamers. Singer Chris Wallace has a strong high tenor that’s easy on the ears and his repartee with guitarist Sean-P he of the confessional banter brought some light moments to an often heavy day of music. Speaking of which main stage fixtures and Warped regulars NFX were as funny as they were fun (we’ll spare you the ethnic jokes.
