Book Review – The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists
Message for the Week
We’re taking not only the late?60′s?early?70′s roots of metal but also thrash metal power metal death metal black metal doom metal battle metal and any other head?bashing metal you can think of. A couple of these sub?genres admittedly I did not even know existed. Written by noted metal music journalist Joel Mclver who has written for several metal magazines (Metal Hammer Total Guitar) and is the author of some 11 books (including And Justice For All: The Truth About Metallica) delves deep into the far reaches of the globe to come up with guitarists like Michael Amott (#28) of the Swedish death metal band Carcass the late Jesse Pintado (#72) of the grindcore band Napalm Death and Trey Azagthoth (#7) of the Florida death metal band Morbid Angel. There are several old?time classic metal guitarists throughout the list such as Fast Eddie Clark (#86) of Fastway and Motorhead Matthias Jabs (#77) of the Scorpions K. Downing (#29) and Glen Tipton (#25) of Judas Priest and I was also happy to see the legendary Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath all the way up the list at #6. f course there are always going to be a few entries that in my humble metal opinion I just can’t agree with.

Josh Schwartz’s Rockville CA Web Series Debuts Today

The show received attention during taping as the new place for bands to show up and get their buzz on. Each episode revolves around a group of annoying one-dimensional characters hanging out over the course of a gig with the live performances brought lovingly front-and-center. The episodes currently posted include Nico Stai and the Kooks with the Kaiser Chiefs Lykke Li Travis and Eagles of Death Metal on the.  The good news: You can just watch the band performance clips and skip the episodes altogether.  Confined to short vignettes in a small media player the characters are reduced to annoying stereotypes: The typical Schwartz male spurting out paragraphs of disdain (Hunter); the mousy A&R girl he meets (Deb); the obnoxious horny blond guy (Chambers) and the monosyllabic rocker dude.
