Danish death-metal act Compos Mentis have been working on material for their next LP which they’ll start tracking June 23 with Christian Bonde. Lyrically the band said the disc will “be centered around the parish pump and different moments in Danish history as well as various aspects of a ‘typical’ Danish mentality.

The group’s 2008 lineup features all the members who originally played on the Live After Death tour more than 20 years ago: Murray and fellow guitarist Adrian Smith singer Bruce Dickinson bassist Steve Harris and drummer Nicko McBrain.

A memorial tribute benefit will be announced in the following weeks. Michelle Meldrum was born on Sept 28 1968 in Detroit Michigan to a family of musicians and actors. At 13 Meldrum moved to Los Angeles California and started her career in music by forming the thrash metal band WARGOD with drummer Gene Hoglan (DARK ANGEL DEATH and STRAPPING YOUNG LAD). PHANTOM BLUE released their self-titled debut album on Shrapnel Records as well as Roadrunner Records and eventually landed a deal with major label Geffen. Once PHANTOM BLUE disbanded after a successful run at fame Michelle Meldrum moved to Sweden and formed her current band MELDRUM. After many triumphant tours with such acts as MOT?HEAD and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY she reunited with Hoglan in 2006.

In a strange twist of fate three disparate elements have combined to create a powerful story: a British cartoon from the 1980s a Finnish metal band and Brueland's battle with cancer. The story has inspired a song numerous YouTube video tributes and music fans around the world. Brueland grew up in Tierrasanta a kid fascinated with both music and art. He started his own comic book company Invincible Studios and later worked as an animator for The Lightspan Partnership a local computer animation studio. Yes Sam Matthews has played in a few bands over the past 30 years or so. And now as the guitarist hits the milestone of 50 he’s in more bands than he’s ever been in. His bandmates and friends celebrate Sam at 50 Saturday at the Thunderbird Cafe with the “Sam Matthews Celebrity Roast. ” The first half will be acoustic with performances by Devilish Merry Slim Forsythe and the Beagle Brothers (Sam gets a break here)… Truthfully I can’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than by getting up and playing five 30-minute sets with five different bands on three different instruments. Matthews adds that he’s about to debut a new band called The Burning Path with Vince Curtis (Real Enemy Half Life) and his laptop.
