The crowd sang along as expected on “The Wolves (Act 1 & II)” and their increasingly urgent chants of “It might have been lost” as the music swelled recalled. ” Before that klahoma rockers the Evangelicals impressed with tightly thrashy songs that showcased singer Josh Jones’ epic vocals — which augmented with tons of reverb showed flashes of… The death-metal-gone-prog act played the majority of last year?s Colors which features thrashing and bashing aplenty but also showcases a Mr. Bungle-esque dash of eclecticism and a proficiency that could be described as “tasteful wankery. ” “Ants of the Sky” jumped from soaring guitar solos to a saloon hoedown with banjo before diving right back into the metal grind while set closer “Mordecai” demonstrated the kind of epic melodic finale that most metal bands fear they can only attain by going harder and faster.

This one is set in America on Long Island. Ann (Naomi Watts) and George (Tim Roth) are a prosperous young couple off for a vacation with their 9-year-old son Georgie (Devon Gearhart) at their summer home on the water. The ominous mood is heightened when the couple’s playful name-that-opera-tune game is interrupted by a nasty blast of death metal “music. ” When the couple sees some neighbors hanging out with a couple of preppy young men dressed all in white Ann notes they are acting very strangely. In horror films victims never see clues even obvious ones like white gloves on a warm day. The boys in white are a pair of vicious sadistic psychos (Michael Pitt and Brady Corbet) out to terrorize torture and murder for the kick of it.

I think that’s going to be fun. Admittedly though Buechner’s not so sure younger audiences will be as enthusiastic about Earth Crisis’ resurrection — but he’s positive members of the bands that are popular today will be psyched. “ur goal as a band was to write songs that appeal to our taste in music and a lot of other bands to an extent will take elements from groups that inspired them and fuse it into their sound” the singer said without naming names. “Certain bands will sound similar to bands they grew up listening to and that’s almost inevitable. ur goals are the same as they were back in 2001. Hopefully we can make our old fans happy and get some of the younger guys into some of these ideas too. Plus today’s hardcore scene isn’t as vital as it was back when EC cashed their chips in… Sad news this week: Black Death drummer Phil Bullard reportedly died — way back on February 6 — after a long battle with colon cancer. He was 59 and is survived by two daughters Philicia and Earlicia; four grandchildren; and two sisters.
