With our company’s history in the metal world coupled with this bands mastery of the genre we are poised for world domination!”Euro-Metal veteran and previous U… guitarist Zoltan Bathory was the architect of what has morphed into Five Finger Death Punch recruiting standout studio Metal drummer Jeremy Spencer to add his trademark ‘double-bass mayhem’ to the equation. KTVU.com Talks To QTSA’s Josh Homme
KTVU.com – Jun 6, 2007
com Talks To QTSA’s Josh HommeWednesday June 6 2007 updated: 11:38 am PST December 192007Whether helping brew the downtuned cosmic fury of seminal desert rockers Kyuss in the early 1990s or anchoring the hypnotic and tuneful heaviness of Queens of the Stone Age over the past decade Josh Homme has established himself as one of the few alternative-rock musicians capable of writing both hook-filled tunes and monolithic riffs. Along with Jack White of the White Stripes Homme brings the power of the classic guitar hero into a modern rock context without devolving into flashy solos. The prolific musician also showed a remarkable capacity for experimentation with his varied projects such as the Desert Sessions recordings — which found Homme workshopping songs with a wide variety of players in a relaxed setting — and the tounge-in-cheek hard rock of the Eagle of Death Metal… com: To balance out the noisiness it seems the pop element to the songwriting has been elevated. Your music has always had hooks but here it seems you upped the ante on both ends. Josh Homme: I think it’s more opportunistic. When it gets that dirty and that kind of dirtiness feels comfortable I felt like it gave us clearance to go this far.
Paul McCartney frees himself from yesterday and today
PopMatters – Jun 6, 2007
At the same time McCartney is moving forward in a way that suggests he’s much more interested in his future as an artist than in his past. His deal with Hear Music a joint venture between Starbucks Entertainment and Concord Music Group breaks his longtime ties with the major-label system that he helped sustain over the last four decades. He also will make his music available by digital download from online retailers for the first time. What’s more recent events – the death of his first wife the divorce from his second encroaching mortality – have conspired to cast McCartney in an unfamiliar role as a sympathetic figure. In playing the charming Baby Boomer icon for decades the singer rarely came off as vulnerable. In the endless facile comparisons to his old songwriting partner John Lennon McCartney always was portrayed as the glib self-effacing one the Beatle who coveted the fame but not the intimacy with his fans that Lennon so naturally cultivated. “Memory Almost Full” flies in the face of that perception.

There was no shortage of tributes to Loganathan Arumugam or simply Loga to adoring fans of the Alleycats who passed away on Monday. He succumbed to lung cancer and left us at the age of 54 perhaps a little too soon for someone who had many more good years to offer in the music scene. Even on his hospital bed Loga’s talent and desire to make music never faded as seen by the resilient Penang-born musician’s ambition to record an orchestral album and a Tamil release with the Alleycats. From blogs to websites and everyday conversations Loga’s illness and death was the topic for many fans. The tributes won’t be stopping any time soon a testimony to the Alleycats influence on nearly 40 years of music-making… He succumbed to lung cancer and left us at the age of 54 perhaps a little too soon for someone who had many more good years to offer in the music scene. Wizard-Rock Bands Take Potter Fandom To New Level – Movie News Story…
MTV.com – Jun 6, 2007
There are bands singing from the point of view of “Potter” plants (the Whomping Willows) animals (Nagini) and inanimate objects (such as the Leaky Cauldrons or Ministry of Magic). With the music all over the spectrum from folk to electronica to metal to hip-hop sometimes even within the same band the only thing that unifies the genre is that “Potter” perspective. “There’s 200-something bands and they all want their own character” explained Matt Maggiacomo from the Whomping Willows. “Draco and Harry and Moaning Myrtle were scooped up right away so you start picking Tom Riddle’s diary or whatnot. For instance I developed my character by thinking about what the Whomping Willow does and what it means and I realized it’s protecting an outcast — so [the tree] itself became an outcast who is reaching out. I would say the Whomping Willow is a kind of misunderstood character and falls into a lot of passionate love affairs and does a lot of whomping… The Parselmouths for instance designed their characters to be stupid superficial girls from Slytherin who do and say inappropriate and (sometimes) mean things — as if Sarah Silverman were a student at Hogwarts. “We’re evil but we’re girly” said Parselmouths singer Kristina Horner. “ur parents were Death Eaters. We’ll get our tattoos someday but we don’t even know what’s going on. It’s so over our heads. Playing stupid is just an act. A lot of the bands started out as jokes but they’ve started to take it seriously (especially Siriusly Black a wizard rap act).
