In the past Hindustani Carnatic and Western music became popular because all three forms were encouraged by the Mysore Maharajas. Besides the presence of the British and European community in Bangalore Cantonment nurtured all genres of Western music. Today if Bangalore is receptive to any kind of musical influence it is because the city has become more cosmopolitan than ever before.
