Heavy metal album round-up of the week
nwipp-newspapers.com – May 10, 2007
Dying Fetus play Dublin on May 22. The band dips into the depths of death metal as well as create a truly extreme form of music due to the uncompromising death roar of front man Joe McGlynn and the intricate metal guitars on offer. In a declaration to the hard men of Glasgow Cardboard Gangster describes the dead end life they live and the impossibility of escaping that life and for me is the best song on the album. The quartet’s debut for Relapse really cannot be faulted and deserves the recognition of any true metal fan. With internal murders multiple line-up changes and prison sentences sometimes the music has been overshadowed but now with a clean slate the band with their 1994 line up take rder to Chaos to the surface.

Mackey and Rubinson hope to raise more than $200000 from the sale of the guitars. The auction which launched in late April on the Internet at eBay Live Auctions and Live Auctioneers is being held at the House of Blues in West Hollywood Calif. A concert will follow featuring Abbott’s brother Vinnie Paul on drums and a metal music who’s-who including Kerry King of Slayer Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction Scott Ian of Anthrax and more. The project has taken nearly two years to reach this point. Mackey the project’s curator has traveled the country showing off a number of the guitars at outdoor concerts and music and film festivals. And new arrivals keep coming. In late April the Dean Guitars headquarters off Waters Avenue received freshly finished guitars from influential artists Robert Jew and Mark Ryden whose latest original work recently sold for $800000.
