jpg” >DAATH The HinderersDAATH has released their second album and having not heard of them before I was hesitant to listen but decided to try them out. I can honestly say that I do not enjoy death metal and was never able to find the album appealing. DAATH’s lyrics are quite dark and their demonic vocals present a menacing atmosphere considering their genre of music. In the song “Festival Mass Soulform” the lyrics are not as ominous and sour as the other tracks on the album for example “Rise Haden like the hollows that stretch through time”. ther songs such as “The Hinderers” are much more malicious and malevolent; an example would be “Using your hands to murder”. The instrumental portion of most of the songs I didn’t mind per se… They were fast paced but I would have liked to hear something slower and less heavy. Perhaps even a balance of simplistic and complicated instrumentals. DAATH’s music is one that I would not favour or listen to on my own. I initially thought that they would be along the lines of progressive and power metal such as Dream Theatre or DragonForce though I should have done some background research before listening. verall I did not enjoy this album and most likely will not listen to DAATH again – or any amount of death metal for that matter. I did some research on the band before listening and I was eager to check them out.

SUICIDE SILENCE released a five-song EP for Third Degree Records in 2005 which was the perfect testament to the damage the band is capable of inflicting. Their music clearly represents their many influences incorporating a savage mix of death metal grindcore black metal hardcore and doom elements into each track. The group’s most notable and defining niche is defying the genre’s predictable conventions striving to create something more exciting and unique. The songs are dynamic and crushing shifting effortlessly from insane grind chaos into surgically precise disorienting time signatures topped off with snail-paced grooves and destructive breakdowns. Following an acclaimed performance at last year’s New England Metal and Hardcore Festival SUICIDE SILENCE spent the remainder of the summer on their first headlining U.

But it’s pretty amazing. It’s just brutally heavy and they just make so many interesting choices that are so un-metal: There are no guitar solos and even though the songs all exist within an accepted metal structure tempos and things with actual melodies they do a lot of drone-y one-note guitar things with a lot of space while the drums going underneath are doing more fast metal stuff. It’s pretty interesting. Phoenix: “Second to None” In terms of upbeat guitar pop [It's Never Been Like That] is just an amazing record… I just got their 7″ and it’s pretty raw punky power-pop kind of stuff. ne of my most favorite tours we’ve ever done was last spring with two bands that I’d encountered elsewhere and had really wanted to play with: A band from Spain called Les Aux and then the Duke Spirit. For me it was a great night of music every night. >> Favorite Song Ever I go through phases of having different favorite songs but in terms of consistent winners “Someone’s Gonna Die” by the Blitz always hits me the right way. There are some obvious choices like “Move n Up” by Curtis Mayfield. I really might almost say that in the last few years since it came out a bunch of the stuff from Daft Punk’s Discovery if it ever comes on I’m not only never bummed about it but I’m always pretty psyched about it. I have to say that “ne More Time” would be in whatever sort of top list.

Lemieux dedicate their lives to making it possible. Lemieux’s solo artist career takes on the music of today in a fight to the death. His mission: to rid the world of lifeless incidental music that is without purpose or thought. “The radical lack of authenticity in every other art form” is what drives Lemieux’s passion he said. “Music’s become trivial. I suppose I’d like to leave my mark while I still can… “I suppose I play acoustic bluesy country twangy nonsense with a darker side” he said of his own style. However putting a name to his artistic style is not one of Lemieux’s goals. Currently the Isla Vista scene is a musical mixture of screaming metal bands hip-hop hopefuls and reggae fusion all aspiring to get somewhere. The dream of fame has passed Lemieux by and he hasn’t given it a fascinated second glance. He hopes his music stands for more than money and a Top-10 list. “I want to sing the truth throughout my songwriting career” he explains. “If honesty can touch people nowadays it means you’ve got quite a voice.
