I am a proud American. But it was not enough to placate the angry fans. The group received death threats and even had to install metal detectors at their gigs. The following month band member Emily Robison said she was concerned about her safety and had received death threats. “At our concerts this year we have to have metal detectors and to me that’s just crazy. “But we have to take precautions because this thing has gotten so out of control. The youthful sexy take on traditional country music had helped their 1998 major label debut album Wide pen Spaces sell 12 million copies in the US. jpg” >Media Credit: Rob GhaderiDespite All That Remains’ headlining show being moved from the Avalon Theater to Club Sound as well as the time being changed there were still an overwhelming amount of die-hard fans who showed up to rock out. The tiny club seemed to have an air of metal even with the early Valentine’s Day decorations hanging from the ceiling. After local opener ffered No Escape played to the not-yet-packed crowd of Club Sound The Human Abstract took to the stage subsequent to a thorough sound check and some not-so-awesome background music. With an intro that included music with classic horror movie ambiance and blinding blinking lights that added to that effect The Human Abstract wasted no time in awing the audience. Their first and probably most well-known song “Crossing the Rubicon” set the pace for the rest of set which was equally impressive. Playing other songs such as “Mea Culpa” “Nocturne” and “Polaris” all off their debut full-length CD “Nocturne” The Human Abstract proved beyond a doubt that they are the masters of guitar sweeping… The tiny club seemed to have an air of metal even with the early Valentine’s Day decorations hanging from the ceiling. Starting off with a beautiful piano intro and progressing into the most powerful song of their set complete with breakdowns more sweeping and nice blends of screaming and singing their last song “Vela Together We Await the Storm” was the perfect ending. The only bad thing about The Human Abstract’s set was that it was not long enough.

John sborne was inspired to write his greatest play The Entertainer while washing dishes in Brighton’s Metropole Hotel. livier played the title role. They shot the film version on the West Pier now a sad shipwreck of scrap metal. sborne would have relished the symbolism of the derelict West Pier but in fact the pier is just about the only thing in the city that is redundant and decaying. sborne’s play was a portrait of Brighton (and Britain) in decline but this rusting hulk is actually a symbol of Brighton’s renaissance rather than its demise. f all the seaside towns that rose with the invention of the locomotive and fell with the invention of the jet aeroplane it is the only one that has found an identity beyond candyfloss and fish and chips. Smart sassy and media-savvy Brighton is a city beside the seaside rather than just another seaside town. The Theatre Royal survived the death of music hall and weekly rep. Now its biggest challenge is to keep up with the place that spawned it as Brighton becomes London’s most fashionable suburb and leaves its kiss-me-quick competitors far behind. Post this article to.
