WUVT radio station suffers financial turmoil

“For the past few weeks we’ve been broadcasting at about 10 watts. ”WUVT’s mission is to promote education understanding and diversity of music while serving the community as an independent not-for-profit student-run radio station according to the station’s website. The station features music ranging from Americana to Hip-Hop to Death Metal all played by unpaid volunteer disc jockeys. The station can be heard in a wide range on and around campus including Montgomery County Christiansburg Radford Floyd Giles Salem Pulaski and Wytheville. Because of the land it affects a lot of people in the surrounding community and on campus will be affected by the change. ne Tech student feels that WUVT is an essential part of the Tech campus. “WUVT plays a lot of music that you can’t normally hear on regular radio stations” said university studies major Nikos Cox.

Although it is music that has brought the Derry actress to magh my main interest lies in her excellent movie career. The 34-year-old got her big break in the movie business with the movie adaptation of Roddy Doyle’s cult Irish novel ‘The Commitments’. Her role as a rough foul mouthed backing singer in a Dublin soul band won her much critical acclaim and gained her many major movie roles. She also starred in possibly one of the greatest movies of the 1990s Pulp Fiction and the cult phenomenon that is Star Wars… Her Bluesy-soul sound mixed with her artistic and talented character is a powerful combination and her appearance in magh is a show not to be missed so come along to the Top f The Town this Saturday and see a living testament of Irish talent in action. SIKTH – FLGGING THE HRSES EPSikth are a young British band who first made an impact on the UK underground metal scene just over half a decade ago. In conjunction with the band’s UK tour of second album ‘Death f A Dead Day’ Sikth have just released Limited Edition EP; Flogging The Horses it consists of 5 tracks and features demos previously unreleased material and a remix. pening track ‘Flogging The Horses’ is taken directly from the band’s second album and it delivers a concoction of filth and fury to open the EP and swiftly gathers your attention. ‘Each other and urselves’ is just a song from the same album with different lyrics to it hardly ‘previously unreleased material’ but excellent nonetheless. The two demos are again nothing more than songs from the main album with different titles however the raw unpolished versions of the tracks give them a new attractive quality that the dual vocalists of the band create. The final track on the EP is from you’ve guessed it the band’s main album.

The whole suite is extensively decorated in the style of a 17th century bedchamber. In the master bedroom there are two Queen-sized beds which can sleep four and in the sitting room a couch pulls out to a bed which can sleep two addition people for a total of six. This sitting room is to view the "Wishes" fireworks display with the music pumped directly into the room. The stained glass windows do not open but at night during the display they seem to disappear. These same windows also tell the story of Cinderella. From starting in her house to the invitation and finally where she marries Prince Charming all told in the beauty of stained glass pictures. There is a "Magic Mirror" in the sitting room that changes into a television set at the touch of a button… The Jacuzzi tub is surrounded by mosaic images of 17th century France and the ceiling has blue twinkling stars above. There is a double sink both made of copper and detailed in what appears to be light-colored metal swirling around the basins. There is even a phone (It is a Victorian-style one) right next to the toilet. The toilet paper even has gold Royal seals on them. The shower unit is tiled all around and the fixture is copper and very ornate. I got a chance to speak to two Disney Imagineers both who were instrumental in the design concept and construction of the Suite Kyle and Diago.
