” If you saw 15-year-old Sarah Gray from Rotorua Girls’ High School sitting with the group you might think she is the odd one out in her pretty purple and pink clothes but she classes herself as emo and one of the group. “I just like that type of music. It helps you control your emotions and feelings. I like screamo and death metal. You can let go of everything” she says.

Babrus’ inspiration and creativity looks promising and the title if and when it is available should be something to look forward to. Meanwhile Syed Yousuf Ali presented Manga recommendations of the year. The titles included Death Note Beserk Gantz Monster and Pumpkin Scissors among others. Some Anime music videos followed close after with the concluding segment of Anime (and Manga). The convention came to a close after clarifying a few facts about local Anime sharing and the expansion of the network. With the dangerously infectious enthusiasm of the community steadily growing with a sensible purpose since its online days (there is a huge assembly at rkut. com) the feeling of joining in and expanding Anime awareness isn’t a lost dream after all.

They are like plumbing and modern ones are better than the old stuff. Every few months I clean mine out in the bath. When you see a brass player turn an instrument upside down and shake out liquid it’s not spittle or anything disgusting it’s condensation from when the player’s warm breath meets the cold metal. Practising is lonely. When I’ve had enough I go to Sainsbury’s in the High Street catch the tube to the Guildhall or I meet my best friend Sophie for a salad or a sandwich. We’ve known each other since we played in the National Youth rchestra. During the day food is either social or fuel… I’ve been sailing since I was seven years old and I have my day-skipper qualification. I’m now training for my yacht-master. In one way music is life and death to me — it has to be. But I’m able to put it into perspective. It’s not brain surgery. No one will get hurt if I play a wrong note. The hardest thing for me is finding a balance.

Sometimes as a friend and sometimes as a foe called ‘death’ who dwells with us from birth to the departure of the physical existence. ‘Death’ the inevitable life long survivor is the theme of Wasantha Kumarasingha’s 26th art exhibition ‘Thahadu Hatha Saha wenath Kruthi. ‘ The exhibition is called ‘thahadu hatha’ because the drawings are painted on sheets of steel. It will be held on the 10 11 12 February at the Senerath Paranavithana Library Hall. The temporality of life and how quickly human life comes to an end how everything in the world changes in a moment and how life leaves us powerless to everything around us is the theme that this artist tries to present. “It is hard to explain or to give a clear definition for what art is… He studied art in an academy called ‘Vibavi’ where he learned what drawing is. “People objects things they exist at one moment and vanish again in a second. And only the dust and the wind and the sheets of steel and metal remain in the solitude. There are many reasons for people to create art. Sometimes it happens with the knowledge of the artist while sometimes it happens without the knowledge by accident” he commented speaking about his creations. Artists produce things; they create things sometimes while sometimes their brushes rest. But the art is created in the mind and not in paper or canvas.

For this third effort "Not Too Late" many of the naysayers’ early barbs finally apply. If you thought Jones’ first albums were slow and quiet wait till you get a load of this. It makes them seem like speed-metal peel-outs. "Not Too Late" is far too drowsy tepid and indefinite a flinty sketch rather than a fully drawn portrait. Several key changes in Jones’ approach account for this. First she made the understandably ambitious decision to write (or at least co-write) every song herself. Previously she leaned on well-known cover songs or ones specifically tailored for her (like Jesse Harris’ impeccable "Don’t Know Why").

” The two of them even wrote songs together. Kenya sang and ShawRica rapped. It was her love for music and her desire to socialize with her peers that drew Lester 18 to The Cage teen nightclub 117 E. But as she left the club shortly after 11 p.
