A group of rock chicks gyrate drunkenly on a stripper’s pole. It’s like I’ve just walked into a dream sequence from Wayne’s World. Unfortunately that other ginger rock god (and Eagles of Death Metal co-founder) Josh Homme is nowhere in sight. But Hughes more than makes up for it; dripping sweat sex and fun. Macho music some would say. But they’d be wrong… Unfortunately that other ginger rock god (and Eagles of Death Metal co-founder) Josh Homme is nowhere in sight. But Hughes more than makes up for it; dripping sweat sex and fun. Macho music some would say. But they’d be wrong. A stage invasion was inevitable – and they just kept coming. It began with “Cherry Cola” when 15 or so girls clambered up screamed into the microphones groped the band members and then queued up to snog them.

Club choices for Worst Band Names. They have special categories for emo bands death metal bands bands with the word "f*ck" in them bands with the word "funk" in them and bands with gratuitous usage of exclamation points. Personally we're of the opinion that there are two types of bad band names: annoying or boring bad and so-bad-they're-good. Sarah L2007-01-25T08:32:03-08:00.
Slayer still killing them 25 years later
Denver Post – Jan 25, 2007
“Reign in Blood” Slayer’s 1986 speed metal classic set the template for countless thrash musicians virtually creating death metal in the process. The Rick Rubin-produced disc has held up well over the years even as the band has ventured in new directions. Slayer is touring behind last year’s “Christ Illusion” which reunited drummer Dave Lombardo with Tom Araya Jeff Hanneman and founding guitarist Kerry King. We spoke with King in advance of Slayer’s Fillmore Auditorium show about touring politics and why metal never will be truly tamed. Q: Music critics have been Audio.

That’s fortunate because it means hulking tattoo artist Jamie Ryscik has time to show off his latest creations.
Jeremiah Tucker: Worst concert ever?
Joplin Globe – Jan 25, 2007
Surrounded by 14-year-old kids with shaved heads cauliflower ears and wearing wife beaters I watched a man with his face painted white except for a thick black cross that ran down the bridge of his nose scream through a bullhorn “The Bible is bull—-!” This was the chorus of a song by the same name. ther Corporate Avenger hits were “Taxes are Stealing” and “Drug Dealing God. ” The music was generic rap-metal combined with techno which is even worse than it sounds. Throughout the show one of the many people on stage would hold up placards that told factoids such as the amount of weed that could be bought with your income tax or how Jesus was gay. I wondered why they were called Corporate Avenger when they were apparently against corporations. To my mind the band’s name evoked images of muscled businessmen in suits kicking the snot out of striking union workers on behalf of downtrodden conglomerates everywhere. I mean in comic books the West Coast Avengers weren’t fighting the West Coast… It was probably around this time that I got popped in the eye by the flailing arms of one of the moshing tweens. That is when I went from passively loathing this band to actively hating them. Sure the band was so ineffectual that they have released songs called “Gay Muslims for Christ” and “Jihad Schmihad” yet not one Islamic terrorist organization has bothered calling for their death but sometimes the worst is obvious. It’s a black eye delivered by someone you have nothing in common with while listening to a band you hate at a concert you never wanted to be at in the first place. Box 7 Joplin M 64802.

As always this is only a sampling of the many discs sent to me for which I am always glad to receive (please keep them coming). Your inclusion or exclusion is never personal though I tend not to spend much column space for the purpose of ragging on locals. Remember whether I think the music sounds great or sucks pigeon eggs if it seems interesting to you please go out and support your local music scene because that’s the only way there can be a local music scene. Gnome For a while after the ascension of the White Stripes guitar and drum duos seemed to be all the rage — from the bluesy Mr. Airplane Man to the noisy Jucifer.
