Next month New York hardcore legends Madball will begin drafting material for their next full-length. “We’ve already got some basic ideas down and this promises to be our hardest record to date” claimed the band in a statement. The outing is expected to hit stores this spring through Ferret Music. The Acacia Strain are one member shy following the recent departure of guitarist Daniel Daponde.

The Living End had their first No. 1 album in almost a decadewith State of Emergency released their best singleNothing Lasts Forever and played the biggest headliningshows of their career at Festival Hall in May. We were thrilled tosee them headline at the Australian Music Collective’s show at LA’sTroubadour club. A show in the rain on the veranda of a Texasrecord shop where diehards from around the US had driven manyhours to catch them was as good. Still the highlight of SXSW was witnessing the Arctic Monkeysat the peak of their hyperbole-driven fame. In a packed sweatyroom just after midnight the band silenced the naysayers andplayed an absolute blinder. Another focal point of the Texas conference was a showcase fromquality New York indie Stolen Transmission and infamous bloggerSarah Lewitinn… TVRock’s Flaunt It filled dancefloors from Frankston toCairns. The Strokes released an excellent album that curiouslyunderperformed. The band’s US tour with the Eagles of Death Metalwas a corker – we were suitably impressed by an outdoor show atStubb’s BBQ in Austin. Six months later I checked in withguitarist Albert Hammond jnr who by then had recorded a warmcharming album too. Seattle’s Death Cab for Cutie came to town for a sold-out tourafter a four-year absence. Bearded Seattle ensemble Band of Horsestake out Sticky’s indie-rock single of the year with TheFuneral. Thanks to Indie 103.

Exclusive: What Really Happened Between Axl & EDM?
Rolling Stone – Dec 29, 2006
But we at Rock Daily got one of the Suicide Girls to open up and give us her exclusive take on the whole sordid affair. “The first night that EDM played they played a really good show but they went on after Sebastian Bach and the crowd response was really really negative” says Suicide Girl Reagan who had been on tour with the troupe for the last few months. “It just wasn’t the right kind of music for the crowd that came out to see Guns n Roses. They were getting boo-ed through all their songs and they cut their set twenty minutes short and stormed off the stage. We [the Suicide Girls] went back out and did a second set to fill time. But the crowd hated us too and just wanted to see Axl. ”So what’s the real reason Axl kicked EDM off the tour?“Axl fired them for storming off stage without completing their set in a very public manner” says Reagan.
